What is The Black Rhino?

 

The Black Rhino. The third largest animal in the African Savvanah. It is a shy creautre that lives in cantral and southern Africa. The Black Rhino is the Third largest rhino comapred to its cousiin the Jovan Rhino which lives in Indonessia. The Black Rhino Is built tough able to withstand a small care crash and walk away from it. Its thick skin is 5 inches thick and its long horn (made from fibers) can get to be as long as 4 feet! It shares its land with its other cousin The White rhino and both are very endagered.



Habitat

 

The Black Rhino lives all throughout middle and south Africa. its main source of living is the African savvanah and plains. Its vast amount of vegetation is a good source of food as well as saftey. Most animals do not confront the rhino buy instead stalk the new born for it is vulnerable. The tall grains protect the baby rhino and give it shelter to hide.

Characterictics

 

An adult Black Rhinoceros stands 55–67 in high at the shoulder and is 11–12 ft in length. An adult weighs from 1,800 to 3,100 lb. The females are smaller than the males. Two horns on the skull are made of keratin with the larger front horn about 20 incheslong, The Black Rhino is much smaller than the white rhino, and has a long, pointed, and prehensile upper lip, which it uses to grasp leaves and twigs when feeding.
